Soggy Singapore to Auckland
Our last day in Singapore was wet and a bit like walking in a slippery sauna - walking in flip flops was not my best decision.
Chinatown was decorated ready for the Lunar New Year this weekend, I think it will be a bit quieter where we are going!

It’s right next to the financial district so when the rain became a monsoon, we dived into a bar and spent a happy hour people watching.
We said goodbye to our amazing hotel and headed off to the airport for the next part of the mammoth journey. The taxi driver was a fascinating natterer with opinions on absolutely everything!
It had a tail camera for even more excitement..
The flight was really comfortable but far from a full night’s sleep. We had a rather tight transfer time so it was a big relief when the plane arrived on time in Melbourne. Hello and goodbye Australia in just over an hour!
And finally we arrived in New Zealand, another 12 hour journey and 5 hours ahead of Singapore, feeling decidedly upside down and inside out.
We headed towards Chinatown via the Parliament building, the brolly soon became essential.

The men all wear a Canary Wharf style uniform of white or blue smart shirts with no tie, but the women are fabulously elegant with amazing shoes - not so great when navigating huge puddles.

Changi airport was delightful, a word I really didn’t think I would ever use to describe an airport. Even more exciting, our plane was a newly refurbished A380 and absolutely massive.

I had expected the jet lag wobbles, so booked a night at Auckland airport Novotel before we pick up the hire car tomorrow morning - driving today would be a really bad idea!
