Singapore Day 2

I woke up at 3am ravenously hungry but otherwise was feeling surprisingly perkyish today, especially after a suitably huge breakfast.
Walkies today was initially around Colonial Singapore, starting with the wedding cake cathedral.

Near to this is the open field of Padang, home to the Singapore Cricket Club and where the invading Japanese herded the European community together before marching them off to Changi Prison.

We popped into the National Gallery briefly, mostly to cool down in the air conditioning,
Next stop was the Fullerton Hotel which was once the General Post Office. The underpass to get to the waterfront was a bit posher than the London version.

The view from the waterfront was fabulous and I even found a bike.

We were now thoroughly melting so stopped for a beer - the most we have ever paid for a beer anywhere in the world.

Recovering from the total rip-off, we walked increasingly slowly to the Gardens by the Bay. It was beautiful and I would have loved to wander around more but the heat and humidity were stifling.

Hubby is not at all happy with the height of the buildings and this window cleaner made him feel decidedly peculiar.

Shortly after this, I started going down a very tall escalator, realised he had frozen at the top and had to run back up to rescue him - oops!
Another beer stop was needed to recover but we checked the price first!

Back at the hotel to put the feet up and cool down, cocktails are cheaper than Sauvignon...
